INDIAN QUEEN BAR & GRILL
About This Spot
Step inside Indian Queen Bar & Grill, and you’re greeted by the gentle hum of conversation, the comforting warmth of a well-loved neighborhood spot, and the inviting aroma of smoky grills blending effortlessly with Indian spices. Nestled just off the bustling streets of Leicester, this bar and grill carries the essence of a casual local haunt—unpretentious, full of character, and alive with the quiet rhythm of friends gathering for familiar flavors and easy moments.
The atmosphere here moves at an easygoing pace, where laughter bubbles up over shared plates and glasses clink softly in the background. It’s the kind of place where the pace slows as the evening unfolds, conversations stretch a little longer, and the focus gradually turns to the food being placed on the table—grilled meats still steaming, rich curries mingling with the scent of fresh, warm bread.
The menu feels like a heartfelt nod to traditional Indian grills and curries, with each dish capturing layers of spice and fire balanced by cooling sides. Whether it’s tender lamb chops kissed by the char on the grill or the vibrant sizzle of king prawns cooked just enough to keep their snap, the flavors invite slow appreciation rather than hurried bites. Amid the bustle, there’s a shared understanding among regulars that this isn’t about fuss or fine dining—it’s about honest, satisfying food served with a dose of spirited conviviality.
While the style leans into a more relaxed and genuine hospitality than polished professionalism, the crowd here is a testament to the affection this place commands. It’s a spot that holds space for both lively lads' nights and quieter dinners, where the beer flows easy and the sizzle from the grill creates a soundtrack all its own. Remember to bring cash—this local favourite stays true to its roots in more ways than one.
In all, Indian Queen Bar & Grill feels like a nod to Leicester’s rich tapestry of flavors and faces, a place where the food’s heartiness matches the warmth of the welcome, and where every visit holds a little space for discovery in familiar surroundings.

Hmm not sure. Has recently changed chef. It used be superb but now we have eaten there 3 times and it has been variable. Had a meal here a few days ago and the signature dish of baby chicken wasn't cooked through properly. The mixed veg tawa was so viciously hot we struggled to eat it. The lamb rogan josh was tasty and tender. So the jury is out.

Went out for a lads night out. Good beer and atmosphere! I would recommend to order dishes separately as if you order the mix grill the chicken wings are all one taste. Unfortunately the lamb chops are boiled and then grilled which I’m not a fan off. It’s an odd taste compared to them being freshly grilled.

Not been to this place for years, it used to be our usual go to. Meat was still fantastic, vegetarian food was mid. Don't expect a super professional service, it's not that kind of place, but it was still fine. Also they don't accept card so bring cash.

Fantastic. My restaurant of choice when in Leicester. Place itself is very busy, but that just proves my point. It is more of a bar and grill, but if you want super tasty food, definately visit IQ.

Still the nice pub atmosphere we love. Food still good and atmosphere lovely. A little more expensive for food and beer than other pub grills but worth it. Baby chicken and butter chicken still smashed it after all these years. Jerra wings a let down Hot butter chicken a knock out. Hard to get a table but worth the wait. Private members club but pretty relaxed.

This pub reminds me of how pubs used to be. It has the bar and tables and chairs for the customers to sit at. They serve amazing food and the owners are incredibly friendly. I will most certainly be going back.

Another amazing Leicester pub food experience. Whilst in Leicester we went out with our family members to the city centre. It was quite late when we talked about eating good. We came here and after getting drinks we were shown to our table and we ordered. The food experience was amazing and we absolutely enjoyed all the dishes. The stand out dish was the Kheema Curry with chicken pieces. It was just so tasty. Come and try the food here and judge for yourself.
